#WNAC2014 - November / Metallic: Roundup

Sunday, November 30, 2014
Hello everyone!

This is a quick roundup post for my November / Metallic #WNAC2014 (Weekly Nail Art Challenge).  The theme for the month was metallic, which was the perfect theme for leading into the holidays, I would say!

For the first post I created an abstract design (actually two, because I'm so indecisive).  The first one features the gorgeous JINsoon Jasper which is an amazing burgundy metallic polish with lots of red shimmer.  I decided to create an interesting abstract striped and dotted pattern on top using Cult Cosmetics Melrose Place, which is a really great silver chrome.

For my bonus abstract nails, I created a wavy pattern using a "one stroke" technique over Marc Jacobs Enamored Midnight In Paris, a stunning navy creme with a teal undertone.  The waves were created with a flat brush and Cult Cosmetics Melrose Place & PCH.

The second WNAC post was texture, and I wanted to go quite subtle, so I ended up starting with a base of Chanel Rose Moire, which is a really lovely pale pink metallic polish.  It's a bit frosty, so to hide the brushstrokes (and add a bit of texture) I applied a matte top coat (JINsoon Matte Maker) over a pattern I created with some striping tape.  I added Dance Legend Fiji for a textured nail, and used ILNP Champagne Blush for the ring finger and patterned accent on the pinky.  There's also a little textured stud from Born Pretty Store on the ring finger, because why not?

For the third week we decided on another gradient design.  I was already wearing a nude polish that I mixed to match my skin tone (using a whole bunch of other polishes), and the insanely gorgeous Enchanted Polish Amazing on my accent nail.  Then, I had the idea of creating a gradient just down the center of my nails, so I grabbed my standard favorite holos Color Club Beyond & Kismet to sponge on.  I really love how they turned out, and I was shocked at how many compliments I received while working when I wore them.

The last post for the month was colorblocking.  My lovely co-hosts (@missbellatracey & Simply Nailogical) and I all bought the same three Joe Fresh polishes a few months ago (Kaleidoscope, Twilight, and Granite Glow), and we had planned to create some sort of nail art using all three, so it's been a long time coming.  Cristine (Simply Nailogical), came up with a quick sketch for some inspiration, then we each sort of did our own thing, and I think they turned out really cool.
