Winter Forest - Snow Nail Art

Friday, November 29, 2013
Hello again!

Today, I have some more nail art to show you!  I have been in a wintery mood, despite the fact that I don't really enjoy winter here in Canada, but I created this nail art for the Nail Polish Canada Holiday Nail Art Challenge.  The theme for Week 1 is Snow!

The other day, I took a photo of my back yard; the snow had just fallen and coated the bare trees a lovely white.  It's quite a beautiful sight to wake up to in the morning (occasionally), so that was my inspiration for this design.

For the base of these nails, I used one coat of Essie Who Is the Boss, topped with one coat of Illamasqua Raindrops (this combo looks amazing by itself!).  Using a sponge, I added random spots of China Glaze White On White and Square Hue Portsmouth to give the base some depth.  The trees were painted using Square Hue Swahili Charm, and Iron Horse, and the snow is accented with a shimmery white by Cirque called Your Hand In Mine.

I am so proud of these nails.  This was my first time painting any sort of landscape on my nails.  It may have taken a few hours to complete, but I'm just so happy with the outcome that it was definitely worth it.

  5. Oh wow! I saw this on Beautylish and just had to go check it out! This design literally had me running to the store to get my hands on Essie's and Illamasqua's colors to try and recreate this beauty by myself! My boyfriend was joking that this might be my "close enough" attempt haha. Absolutely stunning design, you have a new reader! X

  7. Hi, I came via the link up at Will Paint Nails for Food. You have an incredible blog, and incredible nail art and photos. I appreciate your follow buttons being right up at top, as I hate having to search for those when I go to a new blog. My only feedback (if I absolutely had to nitpick) is that your label list is quite long & takes up a lot of space. Is there a way that you could condense it somehow? I'm now following you on your platforms. :)

    1. Hi! Thank you so much for the feedback, and lovely compliments! I went into the settings and shortened it but it's still quite long. I'll look through the settings to see if I can condense it even more, but thank you for pointing that out! :)

  10. Wow, your nail art is just beautiful - actual art on teeny little canvasses. Just beautiful! I voted for you for the grand prize in the NPC challenge - you very much deserve to win!
