Winter Forest - Snow Nail Art

Friday, November 29, 2013
Hello again!

Today, I have some more nail art to show you!  I have been in a wintery mood, despite the fact that I don't really enjoy winter here in Canada, but I created this nail art for the Nail Polish Canada Holiday Nail Art Challenge.  The theme for Week 1 is Snow!

The other day, I took a photo of my back yard; the snow had just fallen and coated the bare trees a lovely white.  It's quite a beautiful sight to wake up to in the morning (occasionally), so that was my inspiration for this design.

For the base of these nails, I used one coat of Essie Who Is the Boss, topped with one coat of Illamasqua Raindrops (this combo looks amazing by itself!).  Using a sponge, I added random spots of China Glaze White On White and Square Hue Portsmouth to give the base some depth.  The trees were painted using Square Hue Swahili Charm, and Iron Horse, and the snow is accented with a shimmery white by Cirque called Your Hand In Mine.

I am so proud of these nails.  This was my first time painting any sort of landscape on my nails.  It may have taken a few hours to complete, but I'm just so happy with the outcome that it was definitely worth it.

Illamasqua Pink Raindrops Swatches + Chevron Nail Art

Wednesday, July 17, 2013
While ordering from Sephora recently, I noticed that Illamasqua's Raindrops and Pink Raindrops were in stock.  I have had my eye on them for quite some time, but never saw them available in my local Sephora stores.  I'm so glad I decided to order them on a whim because they are gorgeous!

I will review Raindrops at a later date, but today I will be showing you Pink Raindrops:

Pink Raindrops is the definition of ballet slipper pink, that sort of peachy-pink nude.  It reminds me of the ballet slippers I wore when I used to dance.  There is a really lovely hot pink shimmer running through it, and it is packed with pearly white flakes that are very visible on the nail.  I usually don't love pinky nudes on my skin tone, but I actually really loved wearing this one.  It was nearly opaque in one coat, but I used two for the photos.

I made some chevron cutouts a few days prior to this design because I was going to do something else with them, but I was in the mood for some nail art so I went a bit chevron crazy over Pink Raindrops.  The neon pink chevron is China Glaze Hang Ten Toes, and the white is Zoya Purity.  The glitter is OPI Pink Yet Lavender.

I've been a big Illamasqua fan recently, and Pink Raindrops (and Raindrops!) have impressed once again.  I definitely need some more Illamasqua's in my collection!

Thank you for reading! :)
