#WNAC2014 - December / Sparkle: Roundup

Sunday, December 28, 2014
Hi everyone! I hope you're all having or had lovely holidays!

We're nearing the end of December, and our Weekly Nail Art Challenge for the month was sparkle themed - so perfect for the holidays!  Here's a quick roundup of all of the nail art I've been posting on Instagram, after the jump.

  #WNAC2014 - December / Sparkle

For the first week, the prompt was glitter.  I had just bought Orly Mirrorball at the time, so I was really excited to use it.  I went quite simple with just a holo glitter placement accent, and the Mirrorball base on the remaining nails.  For the glitter placement, I created a sort of chevron pattern with gold and silver diamonds, it doesn't come across that well in photos but looked awesome in person.  I was surprised this was such a hit on Instagram because it's so simple, but I loved wearing it!

The next prompt was snow, and I'm instantly reminded of my snow nails from last year.  I didn't want to completely recreate them, but I had the Lacc Fall Collection (base: 1975, 2005, 2002, 2000) to work with, and the colors were so perfect for a night snow landscape.  The sparkle is subtle, but I added Mirroball on top of the snow and I was so happy with them!  There will be a tutorial up on YouTube in the next few days too.

Garland was the next prompt.  I was kind of lacking inspiration, but I had some gold holo bar glitters which I thought would be perfect to create some "tinsel" garland across my nails.  I started with a gradient base using The Body Shop Hemp Over Heels & The Body Shop Green, which I topped with Elevation Polish Aguja St. Exupery.  Then, I added a few bows with Essie Hip-Anema & Good As Gold.

The final prompt was New Years, and I had to go with a classic black and gold mani.  I used Orly Bling, which is seriously incredible - so holo and the perfect gold!  Then, I just started painting random stripes and lines using a black Nubar Nail Art polish.  I didn't really have a plan in mind for these, but I love to paint stripes when I'm kind of uninspired, so I'm very happy with them.

We are continuing the challenge in January as usual, which also happens to be my Birthday month - should be fun!  The theme is matte:

I hope you all enjoyed my nail art for the month, and thank you for reading! :)
