#WNAC2015 - April / Pastel: Simple Outlined Nails

Friday, April 03, 2015
Hi everyone!

Today was the first post of our Weekly Nail Art Challenge (#WNAC2015) for April.  The overall theme is pastel, and our first prompt is “simple”.

I wasn’t really sure what I was going to create for these; I kind of had a plan in my head, but that went out the window pretty quickly.  I ended up putting on Flower Beauty I Lavendare You! as my base, which is a gorgeous pastel lavender jelly.  It has the prettiest iridescent blue / purple shimmer that is very visible in person but not so much in photos, sadly.  I bought it several months ago and never wore it for some strange reason, but I absolutely love it.

Then, I decided to sponge on a bunch of other pastel polishes including Ciate Perpperminty, Cult Cosmetics Malibu, Essie Fashion Playground, and Coco & Lulu Macaron.  To keep them sheer, I dipped my sponge in a bit of pure acetone before I applied the colors to the sponge.  I really wanted to keep the base color the star of the design.

Midway through sponging, I outlined all of the nails with a really thin silver line using Essie No Place Like Chrome.  I sponged a bit more on top so that the outline wasn’t as stark, then I topped the whole nail with Orly Twilight, an iridenscent glass fleck shimmer.
