Ella+Mila Nail Polish from Color4Nails - Swatches & Review

Friday, August 14, 2015

Hello everyone!

I have a selection of some beautiful Ella+Mila polishes, which were sent to me by the lovely retailer Color4Nails to share with you all today!

I've never tried the brand Ella+Mila before, but it looks like they have a really great range of colors and finishes, and I was so impressed by the quality of the polishes, as well as the fact that they're 5-free.

Hopefully you'll enjoy the swatches as much as I enjoyed swatching them. :)

#WNAC2015 - April / Pastel: Ikat Nails feat. the Lacc Beauty Spring / Summer 2015 Collection

Sunday, April 12, 2015
Hi everyone!

We finally have some lovely Spring weather here in Canada, so I couldn't be more excited to use the new Spring / Summer 2015 Collection from Lacc (La Couleur Couture) for my latest #WNAC2015 post.

The prompt for this week was Ikat.  I haven't created any ikat nails for a while now, so I was pretty excited, and I wanted to design something unique but still have the ikat feel to it.

KBShimmer Spring 2015 Collection Swatches & Review

Monday, February 02, 2015
Hello everyone!

I received a few polishes from the new KBShimmer Spring 2015 Collection from Harlow & Co to review recently, and I’m excited to share them with you today.  This was the first time that I’ve tried KBShimmer, but I’ve noticed the brand on Instagram (and various blogs) for a while now, and the collections always look really fun (this one definitely is!).

The Spring 2015 Collection consists of four holographic polishes, a white creme, and several glitter filled pastels, and it will be available on February 6th.  Additional info is listed at the bottom of the post.

Glam Polish Mid-Winters Dream Collection - Swatches & Review

Monday, December 01, 2014
Hello everyone!

I have another gorgeous Glam Polish collection to share with you all today.  This is the Mid-Winters Dream Collection, and it's full of the most beautiful icy pastels, with lots of holo glitter and silver glass flecks.  I know for Australians they get to have Summer while we have an awful Winter here in Canada, so it definitely compliments both seasons.  That's very unique from all the other Holiday Collections that come out this time of year, I would say, and I love it.

Summer Pastel Floral Nails

Saturday, August 09, 2014
Hello everyone!

This post is going up at a pretty random time, but I'll explain the reason down below.  Anyways, I thought I would point a few things out first, one being that you may notice a change in appearance on the blog.  This past week, I've been completely re-designing it, and I've basically started from scratch doing all the coding myself.  It's not 100% complete, so you might notice a few more changes as the week goes on, but I'm pretty happy with the way it's going so far.  Let me know what you all think though!  Any ideas for a header??

Now onto what I'm really here to show you all today.  I created a new set of floral nails after seeing this really beautiful photo in my google searches.  It was a really lovely floral print in mostly pastels, but has several pops of brighter colors.  It has a sort of romantic, watercolor look to the photo with an amazing multicolored background, so that really spoke to me.  I just loved the combination so much, that I had to recreate them for the Nail Polish Canada Summer 2014 Nail Art Challenge.

Of course, the theme is "Summer", and for me, I just love to wear floral prints in the Spring and Summer, so I thought they would be perfect for the challenge.  I only have a few hours left to submit them, so that's why this post is going up this late!

I used several different polishes for the design, mostly pastels by Essie, including the gorgeous Urban Jungle as my base (pictured), and Fashion Underground, Under Where?, Blanc, and Tart Deco are in there somewhere too.  I might update with a full list later, but if you would like to know any specifics, don't be afraid to ask me in the comments below. :)

I hope you all love them!  And, if you would like to vote for me in the challenge, head over to the Nail Polish Canada page, and select "lacquerstyle.com" from the list (you don't have to be signed up or anything).  I would really appreciate it!

Thank you so much for reading, if you made it this far, too! :)

Holographic Pastel Galaxy Nails + Tutorial!

Saturday, November 09, 2013
Well, it's no secret that one of my favourite designs to wear on my nails is galaxies.  They aren't very fall / winter appropriate, but I've wanted to try a pastel version for a while now, so I finally decided to attempt it.

I'm a little bit obsessed with how they turned out, so I'm just warning you now .. there will be a lot of photos in this post!  Of course I also filmed a tutorial, so you can watch how I created them down below! :)

I used so many different polishes for these galaxy nails, but I managed to fit them all in one photo!

Essie Cascade Cool, Full Steam Ahead, Love & Acceptance, and Pure Pearlfection.  Nars Ecume, Color Club Miss Bliss, Eternal Beauty, and Over the Moon.

I also made them matte before I removed them:

And, here's how I created them:

I hope you all love it!

Thank you for reading! :)

Harlow & Co Nailmail + Cirque Colors Bejeweled Swatches & Review

Thursday, June 27, 2013
Today was a lovely day;  I hope you're enjoying yours where ever you're reading this from! :)

My first ever nailmail arrived from Harlow & Co today, and I'm so excited to finally have these polishes in my collection.

Lime Crime's Les Desserts d'Antoinette Collection and Cirque Colors Bejeweled & Vesuvius

Lime Crime's Les Desserts d'Antoinette Collection

They are so adorable, aren't they?!  I will have swatches of the Lime Crime collection very soon.  I cannot wait to try them.

And now, I present to you the beauty that is Cirque Colors Bejeweled:
In direct sunlight

I am obsessed!  This vibrant royal blue holographic polish is so gorgeous.  I was stalking the tracking number and literally had my nails prepped because I knew once my package arrived I needed this on my nails immediately!  Luckily, the sun was out in full force today, which is always necessary for taking amazing photos of holographic polishes.  I still can't stop staring at my nails sitting here in artificial lighting though!  In the photos, I am wearing two coats without top coat.  The formula is perfection.

Here are a few more photos to drool over:

In the shade

Thank you for reading if you made it this far, and I hope you enjoyed the photos.  I have a lot of swatching to do (not even including the ones on the way!), but I will have the rest for you very soon! :)

Essie Summer 2013 Naughty Nautical Collection Swatches & Review

Sunday, June 09, 2013

Hi everyone!

Today, I have swatches of the Naughty Nautical Summer 2013 Collection from Essie.  I am so happy that the majority of these have visible shimmer in them, and it's a beautiful glass fleck shimmer which excites me even more!  The formula varies from each polish, so I will describe them as I go.

Sunday Funday is a perfect coral crelly (creme / jelly) with silver glass fleck shimmer.  I used two coats, plus topcoat for the photos, and it was really lovely to apply.  This is definitely one of my favorites in this collection, and will be a staple pedi color this summer!

Naughty Nautical is an amazing teal crelly with silver glass fleck shimmer.  It leans more green than blue, and has a perfect application in two coats.  I know I have nothing else like it in my collection, and it is my favorite in this collection by far!  This is a must have if you love a good teal polish.

Full Steam Ahead is a soft lilac crelly with silver glass fleck shimmer.  It leans quite pink on me, even though it doesn't look like it would in the bottle.  This polish is very thin, and needs three coats to be opaque.  It was a little patchy, but the color is just so pretty that the end result is worth it.

The Girls Are Out is a fuchsia berry crelly with silver glass fleck shimmer.  Another favorite of mine (the photo at the beginning is more true to color than the one below).  It has a perfect two coat application, and I am still wearing it as I type this because it's just gorgeous.

The More the Merrier is a bright chartreuse - lime creme.  This is the only polish in the collection without shimmer or the same lovely crelly formula.  It is a touch streaky, especially on the first coat, but I only ended up using two coats for the photos, and top coat definitely helped even it out.  I love that Essie released such a fun color like this for summer!

Rock the Boat is a pale blue crelly with silver glass fleck shimmer.  This one, like Full Steam Ahead, is very sheer and needed three coats to be opaque.  It is a very pretty shade of blue, and the shimmer is much more visible in person.

Overall, I really love this collection.  The colors are so pretty and fresh for summer, and I feel like I will be wearing them a lot over the next few months.

What do you think of Essie's Summer 2013 collection?
