Tami Holographic Nail Polish - Swatches & Review

Thursday, November 13, 2014
Hello everyone!

I have some gorgeous holographic polishes to share with you all today.  They are from a new brand made in Scotland called Tami, and they are part of their Scottish Showcase Collection.

Tami Gleneagles Glamour & Skibo Sunset

First up is Skibo Sunset, a beautiful, vibrant pink holo.  The formula was fantastic.  Two easy coats, and it dried extremely shiny with a strong holographic effect.  It's so pretty and girly.   Love!

Next, we have Gleneagles Glamour, a stunning ballet pink/lavender holo that is absolutely packed with shiny gold holo glitter.  The formula is perfect on this one as well; it's nearly a one coater.  It does dry slightly textured because of the glitter, but a good top coat fixes this easily.  It's so glamorous, as the name would suggest, and looks just as beautiful indoors because of the gold glitter.

Tami nail polish retails for £8.99 each (or £20.99 for the three piece Scottish Showcase Collection), and you can find them at http://tamibeauty.bigcartel.com.  They ship worldwide, which is really great too!

New Online Shop, Live Love Polish - UNT Swatches & Review

Tuesday, September 23, 2014
Hello everyone!

The new online shop Live Love Polish kindly sent over a few polishes for me to review.  They carry some amazing nail polish brands including China Glaze, Color Club, and NCLA to name a few, and they offer great shipping options (and very fast!) for both US and international shoppers.

Live Love Polish sent me two polishes by the brand UNT, which is a popular brand in France and Japan, and Live Love Polish is the first store to carry the brand for the US & Canada.

Clingy Sofie, is a gorgeous magenta filled with silver and multicoloured shimmer/glitter.  It has such a great formula (fully opaque in two coats), and the shimmer really stands out against the base color.  It appears almost holographic and very sparkly in person.  Clingy Sofie also has a wide, round brush which usually I am not a fan of, but I found it really easy to use when applying the polish.  I'm wearing two coats with top coat in the photos.

Breakup Blues, is a beautiful pale blue filled with gold and multicolored flakes.  The formula is slightly more sheer so it needs a few coats to be fully opaque, and can be a bit streaky if you're not careful.  The gold flakes are stunning in person and really pop against the blue, which I was very happy about.  My camera had trouble picking them up in most of the photos, but they are very visible in person.  The brush is a bit different on this one, it's wide, but flat at the end.  I'm wearing three thin coats with top coat in the photos.

I also created some "half moon" inspired nail art for day 18 of the 31 Day Challenge, using Breakup Blues as my base.  I arranged some gold foils at my cuticles in the shape of half moons, and added a few gold studs for an accent nail.  I love the gold and the pale blue together.

Live Love Polish has also created a special discount code for all of my lovely readers, so feel free to use the code "LOVEKRISTIN" at checkout for 10% off your orders.  I must say, I was so impressed by how fast the polishes got to me, and the shipping options are really reasonable.  They offer free shipping for US orders over $20, and for a limited time, free shipping worldwide for orders over $50!

Negative Space “Racing Stripes” + Tutorial (Valentine’s Version)

Wednesday, February 05, 2014
Hi everyone!

I’m back with some negative space nails for you today.  It’s funny, because I used to never really care for the negative space look, but ever since my nails are no longer yellow-stained, I just can’t get enough of them!

IMG_0206-3

The “racing stripes” idea was actually inspired by a video I found by Jin Soon on Sephora’s website.  It’s such a simple design and I absolutely love the look of it.

I went with a blue theme originally, because I’ve been dying to use Color Club Bright Night and Barry M Blueberry Gelly, and I think they look gorgeous together.  I really loved wearing them!

I filmed a tutorial for these nails as well, but instead of the blues, I created a Valentine’s version with a few different shades of pink (CND Taffy Pink & Girlie Pink, and Orly Miss Conduct).  You can watch the video down below!

Enjoy! :)

Incoco Sweet Surprise (Valentine’s Day 2014) Collection: Double Date Nail Appliqués

Monday, January 27, 2014
Hello everyone!

Incoco recently released their new Valentine’s Day 2014 Sweet Surprise Collection, and I have my first review from the collection for you today.

The Sweet Surprise Collection is very girly and pink, perfect for Valentine’s Day, and I love pink, so the designs are right up my alley.  The first design that caught my eye as I opened the package is called “Double Date”, and they are super sparkly!

The base of the “Double Date” appliqués is a combination of silver and pink glitter, with a bit of holographic glitter, and there are different sized hearts scattered all over them.  They were very easy and quick to apply, just like previous Incoco appliqués that I have tried, and the combination of silver and pink is beautiful.

The rest of the collection is just as sweet, from a sugar-spun design to one that looks like sprinkles on a cupcake; I just love them all, and can’t wait to wear the rest of them!

Have you ever tried Incoco nail appliqués?  What are your thoughts on the Sweet Surprise collection?

Pink Lace Nails for Breast Cancer Awareness + Tutorial!

Saturday, November 02, 2013
Hello!

I posted this design on Instagram last week since October was Breast Cancer Awareness month.  I really wanted to create some special pink nails, and I am so happy with how they turned out.  I also decided to film while I was working, so I have created a little tutorial for this look too!  You can view the video below. :)

Essie Fiji, Dance Legend Ibiza, Orly Beach Cruiser, and Lime Crime Parfait Day.  Brush is from my Urban Outfitters set.  Not pictured: Cult Nails Tempest

I wanted them to be super feminine and delicate but quite striking at the same time, so I came up with the idea to create an interesting lace print over a subtle gradient.

My accent nail is Dance Legend #19 Ibiza, the most amazing neon pink textured polish.  I think it's the perfect compliment to the other nails.  I am just obsessed with everything Dance Legend right now!

Here is the tutorial:

I hope you enjoy it!

Marc Jacobs Beauty: Oui! - Enamored Hi-Shine Lacquer Swatches & Review

Tuesday, August 27, 2013
I was extremely excited when I first heard about Marc Jacobs Beauty.  I have been a lover of everything Marc Jacobs for years now, so I've been waiting for months for the arrival.  The collection finally launched on August 9th at Sephora, and I was there the same day to purchase the Enamored Lacquers of course.

The first lacquer I will be showing you is Oui!, a stunning metallic magenta that just glows.  It is one of those halfway between pink and purple colors that I always seem to buy because I'm constantly searching for the perfect one, and I am pleased to say that this is it!

The formula is perfect in two coats, without any dragging or issues at all, and I couldn't believe how smooth it was to apply top coat over it.  I thought this polish might have some visible brushstrokes, but they are practically invisible in person (the camera picked them up in a few photos unfortunately).  I'm very impressed overall, but I knew Marc wouldn't let me down!

My first MJ Beauty haul:
Lash Lifter Gel Volume Mascara, and lacquers in Blue Velvet, Nirvana, Petra, and Oui!

You can see my reflection in the bottles, they are so beautiful and glossy!

I purchased the Enamored Lacquers at Sephora for $22 CAD each ($18 US).  I actually ended up going back for a few more lacquers, the Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation, and the Moisture Balm too.  If you want me to review any of those, let me know!  I just can't get enough of Marc Jacobs Beauty!

Thank you for reading! :)

Dance Legend Thermo 171

Monday, August 12, 2013
I finally got my hands on some thermal polishes and I'm so excited about it.  I've had fun playing around with them this past week, and I must say, I just love it when I look down at my hands and they are a completely different color than they were just moments earlier.  It's like having a few different looks built into one.

The first one I tried was Dance Legend Thermo 171.  It's a really lovely pink in it's cold state, and a white-silver shimmer that just glows when it's warm.  Most of the time my nails were white-silver (especially in this hot weather), and the tips of my nails were pink, it was like instant nail art.  It was actually quite distracting while driving because the air conditioning in my car was changing the color of my nails.  I thought it was really cool though!

The formula of 171 is pretty spectacular.  It's opaque in just one coat (I used two for the photos), it dries extremely fast, and isn't streaky like some metallic or shimmer polishes are.  It was one of the few Dance Legend thermals actually in stock on Llarowe at the time, which is why I got it, but I'm so glad I did; I absolutely love it!

Cold state

Warm state

My accent nail is Cirque Colors Fleur est Belle, a Mei Mei's Signatures exclusive.  This was the first time I had worn it, and I can't believe I waited this long.  It's just beautiful!

You can see the beautiful glowing shimmer it has in these photos.

I purchased Dance Legend 171 for $13 on Llarowe.  I am so glad I took the chance and decided to order it, because it's seriously one of my favorite polishes now and I cannot wait to try more!

Illamasqua Pink Raindrops Swatches + Chevron Nail Art

Wednesday, July 17, 2013
While ordering from Sephora recently, I noticed that Illamasqua's Raindrops and Pink Raindrops were in stock.  I have had my eye on them for quite some time, but never saw them available in my local Sephora stores.  I'm so glad I decided to order them on a whim because they are gorgeous!

I will review Raindrops at a later date, but today I will be showing you Pink Raindrops:

Pink Raindrops is the definition of ballet slipper pink, that sort of peachy-pink nude.  It reminds me of the ballet slippers I wore when I used to dance.  There is a really lovely hot pink shimmer running through it, and it is packed with pearly white flakes that are very visible on the nail.  I usually don't love pinky nudes on my skin tone, but I actually really loved wearing this one.  It was nearly opaque in one coat, but I used two for the photos.

I made some chevron cutouts a few days prior to this design because I was going to do something else with them, but I was in the mood for some nail art so I went a bit chevron crazy over Pink Raindrops.  The neon pink chevron is China Glaze Hang Ten Toes, and the white is Zoya Purity.  The glitter is OPI Pink Yet Lavender.

I've been a big Illamasqua fan recently, and Pink Raindrops (and Raindrops!) have impressed once again.  I definitely need some more Illamasqua's in my collection!

Thank you for reading! :)
