#WNAC2015 - June / Patterns: Roundup

Monday, June 29, 2015
Hello everyone!

I can't believe June is almost over already, crazy!  Since it's the end of the month however, I have my nail art roundup to share with you from our #WNAC2015 (Weekly Nail Art Challenge). :)

The overall theme for the month was "Patterns", so we had to incorporate a different pattern into the prompts each week, which was quite fun.  I think you all know I love my patterns, and I was definitely in a floral mood!

Glam Polish Knockout Collection (Part 2) - Swatches & Review

Monday, May 11, 2015
Hi everyone!

Glam Polish just released the second part of the gorgeous Knockout Collection recently, which features nine new shades with a strong holo effect and lots of ultra holo glitter.  I didn't swatch the first part, but they were so beautiful & bright, so I'm excited to share this second half with all of you!

Each one really is “ultra holo” (even more so in the sun!), and they all have perfect formulas, so they definitely don’t disappoint.  I hope you enjoy the swatches!

My Collaboration Polish with Beyond the Nail: Cherry Wine + Damask Decals

Monday, May 04, 2015
Hello everyone!

I have a special post to share with you all today, and it's long overdue!  I recently collaborated with Beyond the Nail to create my very own nail polish and decal!  The polish is called Cherry Wine, and it’s accompanied by a really pretty damask decal.  I’m so excited about it, and so honored to have been a collaborator in this Nail Artist Collaboration Collection.

Untitled

This polish really is the perfect “me” shade, and I've decided to name it after one of my favorite songs, Cherry Wine by my favorite artist Hozier.  I’ve always loved damask style patterns as well, so that’s where the decal inspiration came from.

IMG_4208

Cherry Wine is a bright burgundy holographic polish with an intense gold shimmer.  It’s quite a chameleon, because indoors it tends to look warmer and almost duochrome with the golden sheen, but when it catches the light (or especially in the sun!) the strong holographic effect shines and it appears slightly more purple toned.  It’s just the most perfect shade in between purple & red, extremely flattering, and the gold makes it so unique.  It has a perfect two coat formula as well.

I created an accent nail featuring one of the damask decals as well.  I started by placing the decal in the center of the nail (shown above, alone), then painting some curved lines with Essie Good As Gold, and a few white details surrounding it.  I love how it turned out.  I chose white decals, but they also come in a wide range of colors (gold would be so pretty!).

As you can tell by the amount of photos in this post, I'm kind of obsessed with this polish!  It's just so pretty, and a thousand times better in person, of course!  I've worn it several times already, so I hope you all love it as much as I do.

For more info on my collaboration shade Cherry Wine and the rest of the Nail Artist Collaboration shades, please visit Beyond the Nail's website.  Each polish retails for $8.00 CAD (or full collection for $55.00), and the decals are $4.00 CAD.
*I am not being compensated for the polish, I just helped provide inspiration as part of the collection*

Thank you for reading! :)

#WNAC2015 - January, February, & March Roundup!

Thursday, April 02, 2015
Hi everyone!

This will be quite a lengthy post today, so I’ll try to save you from reading a lot and just overload you with lots of pretty nail art photos, since my blog is definitely lacking lately!

I’ve decided to just combine the past three months of our Weekly Nail Art Challenge (#WNAC2015) into this one post because I have the separate posts saved in my drafts, but now that they’ve past I figured I might as well just do a mega post.  Starting this Friday, I will be doing separate posts, though (finally, right?!).  There are also a few tutorials for the designs, so make sure you check them out if you’re interested.

You can view our April challenge schedule (which starts tomorrow) at the bottom of the post if you’d like to join too! :)

Enchanted Polish January & February 2015 Swatches & Review

Saturday, March 28, 2015
Hello everyone!

I decided to finally swatch my most recent Enchanted Polish purchases the other day, since they’ve been sitting here for a while.  I’m so happy I did, because they’re so gorgeous!

I’m kind of horrible when it comes to EP.  I secretly try to collect them all because I’m a huge fan, but they rarely appear on the blog because I usually “save" them for when I can wear them for longer periods of time; I know, silly.  I figured I should start sharing them with you all, so there will definitely be more swatches coming - I hope you all don’t mind! :)

All of the info (and international shipping options) is listed at the bottom of the post, so let’s get started!

Colors by Llarowe Fall 2014 Collection Swatches & Review

Thursday, October 23, 2014
Hello everyone!

I've got swatches of eight of the new Colors by Llarowe Fall 2014 Collection to share with you today.  The restocks are today, at 12:00pm MDT and again at 7:00pm, so make sure you are ready if you want any of these gorgeous polishes!

Colors by Llarowe Fall 2014 Collection

Seasons of Change is a beautiful dusty teal holo with a bunch of pink flake shimmer and a golden flash.  This is one of my favorites, for sure!  The formula was so smooth, opaque in two coats, and photographed without top coat.
IMG_6256-

Sandy We Ain't In Kansas Anymore is a vivid blue holo with a turquoise duochrome and purple shimmer (which sadly, you can't see in my photo).  I love, love this one as well.  It's got more of a metallic finish to it than the others, and is one of those glowy polishes that appear slightly darkened at the edges.  The holographic effect is more subtle than the rest, and it's opaque in two coats.  This was photographed without top coat.
IMG_6193---

My Broken Down Crop Duster is a deep, muted purple (slightly charcoal) holo with a flash of golden shimmer.  Such a gorgeous fall color, and the holographic effect is extremely strong in this one, so it's amazing in the sun!  This one was also nearly opaque in one coat.
IMG_6019-

Mercy is a burgundy holo, which leans slightly more purple than red.  It's another beautiful color, perfect for fall.  It was also nearly opaque in one coat with a perfect formula, and the holographic effect is pretty strong.
IMG_6030-

Obsessed With Marilyn is a cranberry red holo.  This one is more of a jelly than the other holos, and the holo is less dense, more scattered, but it really glows from within.  So pretty!  It was opaque in two coats, and I photographed it without top coat as it dried quite shiny.
IMG_6082-

Penny For Your Thoughts is a burnt orange holo.  Like Obsessed With Marilyn, this one is more jelly than the other holos, with a less dense holo effect, but really glows.  It's such a lovely fall color and opaque in two coats.
Disclaimer: Unfortunately, this one stains pretty badly (bright yellowish stains), however, I scrubbed my nails with a toothbrush and my Arm & Hammer toothpaste, and about 90% of the stains came off.  I then lightly buffed after and they were gone.  You could also do a soak of lemon and baking soda.  You may want to avoid this one if that sounds like too much to handle though!
IMG_6307-

Burning Embers is a gorgeous, deep bronze with a stunning burgundy duochrome shimmer.  It shifts red, gold, and green and is packed with flakes and multicolored shimmer, so it's super sparkly!  Totally Fall appropriate, and has a perfect formula; opaque in two coats.  I'm not wearing top coat in the photos.
IMG_6349-

IMG_6361-

Sherwood Forest is a deep teal green jelly base, with red, orange, gold, blue, and green duochrome shimmer, as well as some multicolored shimmer that really shines in direct lighting.  This is another one of my favorites, and so Fall appropriate.  It was slightly sheer, so I used three thin coats for the photos, without top coat.

I hope you all enjoyed the swatches!  My picks are Sandy We Ain't In Kansas Anymore, Seasons of Change, and My Broken Down Crop Duster.  Make sure you head over to Llarowe if you've got your eye on any of these.  The first restock has now passed, but the second is at 7:00pm MDT!

Glam Polish Cast a Spell Part II: The Magic Is Back! Collection - Swatches & Review

Wednesday, September 17, 2014

Hello everyone!

I know I've totally stopped posting about the 31 Day Challenge here on the blog, but if you would like to catch up on all of those posts, you can view them on my Instagram or Facebook pages (if you haven't already seen them).

For today, I've got part of an amazing new fall collection (Cast a Spell Part II: The Magic Is Back!) by Glam Polish to show you all.  The collection consists of nine magical holographic glitter polishes (seriously, they are magical), and I've got five of them to show you.  They all dry to a slightly textured finish because of the amount of glitter in them, but I highly recommend applying a good glossy top coat because the holographic glitter really comes to life.  Each one has a fantastic formula, and the colors are just stunning.

Untitled

Banished, is a crimson red holographic polish packed with bright red holographic glitter.  I love this kind of deep red, especially for fall, and the bright red glitter really glows from the base.  The combination is perfect together.  I'm wearing two coats in the photos.

IMG_2245-1

Cauldron, is a teal holographic polish, packed with teal holographic glitter.  It leans a bit more green in person than my camera captured.  The holographic glitter looks like it's floating in the base, and the holographic effect is strong.  It's just so pretty.  I'm wearing two coats in the photos.

IMG_2223-1

IMG_2211-1

Pentacle, is a charcoal holographic polish, packed with some crazy holographic glitter.  This is the sparkliest one of the five I was sent, and definitely my favorite.  I don't know if any camera could do this one justice, since it's totally insane in person!  I'm wearing two coats in the photos.

IMG_2158-1

IMG_2163-1

Sorceress, is a berry pink holographic polish, packed with bright pink holographic glitter.  This one looks much brighter in the sun when the holographic effect is the strongest.  It's slightly more of a jelly than the others, but also has a perfect formula.  I'm wearing two coats in the photos.

IMG_2309-1

IMG_2287-1

Wicca, is a deep purple holographic polish, packed with purple holographic glitter.  This is another favorite for me.  It's the most gorgeous shade of purple, and the purple holographic glitter is so beautiful.  It had the best formula out of them all too, I would say.  I'm wearing two coats in the photos.
